| | | Tips on Painting Your Home
The best secret about painting is- are you ready-- that it’s the best and by far the most inexpensive way to give your home a new look.
Here are a few tips and ideas to make your painting job easier:
-In choosing colors, the most reliable way is to actually paint the pain on a cardboard, let the first coat dry and then paint the second coat. You then can tape the cardboard throughout the room and see how it looks in different lights. Never rely on just the paint chips for colors.
-Rely on your taste in choosing colors. Look at your clothes-what color scheme are you most comfortable with?
-Don’t use just one color for everything. We like to paint the wall one color and then either half it or quarter it for the ceiling/trims.
-When you are unsure, beige, taupe, crisp white, creamy white are always reliable options.
-Try out the colors in the rooms first (see first tip above) before making a commitment.
-In choosing finishes, semi gloss is best for moldings and woodwork. Both oil and acrylic-based paint can withstand chips and easier to clean. For walls, flat and matte finishes are best for walls with imperfections—keep in mind that they are harder to clean. We like eggshell the best, as it can be washed up easily and has a nice sheen to it.
-Hire professional painter. Painting is tedious, tedious, tedious work and it can make your back sore for days. The prep work is harder than the painting itself, and the professionals can do a better job at taping and cleaning than you do. However, if you feel inspired to do it yourself, get good supplies as cheap brushes and roller make the work more difficult.
-Remember to prep and prime. This is the most important step in painting as it will make your job way easier if you spend the time to prep it ahead of time.
